    Founded in 1953 the Lincoln Film Society has continually offered the people of Lincoln and the surrounding area the chance to see some of the best films from around the world that otherwise might not be shown in Lincoln.

    Bishop Greaves Theatre Since 1987 our venue has been the Bishop Greaves Theatre, Bishop Grosseteste University College, Longdales Road. This venue offers the Society and its Members a comfortable auditorium with raked seating for 231 people.
    The Society's regular season runs from September to May and consists of 18 films, 17 contemporary and 1 classic, showcasing some of the finest foreign language and independent films from around the world. We also show two additional films in association with the Lincoln Academy at the University of Lincoln.

    In addition to our regular season, in 2003, to celebrate the Society's 50th anniversary we held the first Lincoln Film Festival in association with the Odeon Cinema. This festival showcased classic films from the last 50 years proving to be very popular.
    The films shown were: Vertigo, City of God, The Searchers, Apocalypse Now Redux, Amadeus, Cabaret, Babette's Feast, Saturday Night Sunday Morning, Three Colours Red and Run Lola Run.

    Following the success of the first Festival, in 2005 we held our second Film Festival, again in association with the Odeon Cinema and also The Lincoln Academy.
    This Festival's films were: Motorcycle Diaries, Garden State, Bread and Tulips, Dead Man's Shoes, The Chorus, My Architect, A Tale of Two Sisters, Ae Fond Kiss, The Return, Super Size Me, Before Sunrise and Before Sunset. This festival was to be even more successful that the first.

    In 2007 we ran our third Festival, again in association with the Odeon Cinema and also The Lincoln Academy.
    This Festival's films were: Flags of our Fathers, Letters From Iwo Jima, London to Brighton, Pan's Labyrynth, Ghosts, Infamous, Babel, Black Book, Zidane, Volver, A Praire Home Companion, and Paradise Now.

    The Film Society continues to grow with an increasing membership and the recent purchase of a new large screen. Guests are welcome to come along,as are temporary members (subject to seat availability), with entrance priced at £5.00 and £4.50 (students & senior citizens).
